How to find the First Nations Country you are on:
If you are unsure whose First Nations Country you are on, here are some research tips. It’s important to use a few different reference points:
Web search “your local government area/ council” + “Traditional Owners”.
Prioritise search results that source First Nations Organisation websites such as Aboriginal Land Councils. Here’s Creative Spirit’s list.
Your local government area’s website should prominently acknowledge the traditional owners of your area - if it doesn’t, ask them to fix that!
If you live in Victoria, here’s a map of formally recognised Traditional Owners that is very clear.
Consult the AIATSIS Map (1994) which attempts to represent the language social or nation groups of Aboriginal Australia.
How to install your email signature banner on the bottom of all your emails:
Open your preferred Email Application and add the downloaded image to your Email signature block.
Here’s how to do that on Gmail, Outlook and Apple iCloud Mail
If you would like to help promote the Know Your Country campaign hyperlink the image in your Email signature block to this website (www.knowyourcountry.org.au) alternatively you could link to a local First Nations community-controlled organisation.
